Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc is an indigenous grape variety to the Loire Valley in France, with the first vineyard being planted at the end of the 19th century, though, the majority of plantings are now located in Bordeaux.
Although, the Loire Valley has less total hectares than Bordeaux, it is where the Sauvignon Blanc has reached its zenith. |

Unlike Bordeaux’s technique of blending the wine with Semillion, to broaden the palate, wine makers of the Loire generally prefer to allow the grapes to fully mature by themselves and avoid using malolactic fermentation (natural process of changing the malic acid into lactic acid, softening overall acidity).
At Levin Wines In the Loire we age the wine in stainless tanks or glass-linen vats to retain its vibrancy. |
The popularity of this method in conjunction with the grape in general, has proved extremely successful in New World countries, most notably New Zealand, Australia, Chile and South Africa. Our ‘state of the art winery’ designed and shipped from Australia in it’s entirety, and assembled in the rolling hills of Bourré, has enabled us to achieve our goal to permit our grapes to express their full potential with as little intervention as possible. |
