2003 Vintage
2003 Levin Sauvignon Blanc , Loire, VDP du Jardin De La France
Our 2003 Sauvignon Blanc has a silky fresh fruit, floral and spice expression derived from grapes grown in Levin’s Oisly and Bourré Vineyards. Crafted from hand-harvested grapes selected exclusively from our own vineyards creates a myriad of flavours. The terroir is expressed in the wine as a silky melange of fresh citrus and crisp green apple and pear fruit, floral jasmine tea and exotic spices. We fermented the juice entirely in small individual stainless steel tanks, with a brief period in French oak domaine barrels and frequently checked for harmony. These techniques enhanced the rich texture and complex flavours of the Oisly and Bourré fruit.
2003 Levin Gamay , Loire, VDP du Jardin De La France
Our 2003 Gamay comes from vineyards with soils and climate that produce some of the most expressive, complex wines. The Gamay vine has a natural affinity to the rolling hills of Bourré that spans the hillsides of the Cher River. For two years we have researched the site exposure and cultivation practices that yield the best wines in this region’s shallow clay and flinty soils. We fermented several different cultured yeasts to add layers of nuance to the wine’s dark plum, black berry and spicy spectrum. Hints of forest earth, and Asian spice, influenced by clone and vineyard terroir, start in the aromas and culminate on the well-defined structured finish.
